US Congressmen introduce bills to prevent crypto price manipulation

posted 6 months ago
2 US Congressmen have introduced bipartisan bills to prevent crypto price manipulation and boost acceptance of the tech. Rep. Darren Soto (D) & Ted Budd (R) jointly authored 2 bills – “The Virtual Currency Consumer Protection Act of 2018” & the “U.S. Virtual Currency Market and Regulatory Competitiveness Act of 2018” – aimed at making the US a “leader in the cryptocurrency industry.”

The bills essentially ask the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and other US financial regulators to come up with a roadmap to better regulate cryptocurrencies in order to protect individuals and businesses. The 1st bill is anti crypto price manipulation. The 2nd bill asks regulators to carry out research on crypto regulations in jurisdictions across the globe & recommend legislative changes to promote the growth of the adoption of cryptocurrencies in the US.
