The UK’s financial regulator has ramped up its formal investigations into cryptocurrency firms. The Financial Conduct Authority investigated 87 firms over the past 12 months, a Freedom of Information request revealed.

This is a significant increase compared to last year, with 50 firms investigated. Some experts have said it is encouraging to see the regulator stepping up its policing of the sector.
