Trump proposes new law: US Secret Service joins Dept. of Treasury to directly investigate crypto crimes

posted 5 months ago
The US Government, specifically the White House and Donald Trump, officially published it’s annual budget today. Ultimately President Trump decides or proposes how the money gets spent. However it is technically a proposal and has yet to be passed into law by Congress, with some saying, their opinion is that Congress will reject it.

Page 86 of the official document states “Technological advancements in recent decades, such as cryptocurrencies and the increasing inter-connectedness of the international financial marketplace, have resulted in more complex criminal organizations and revealed stronger links between financial and electronic crimes and the financing of terrorists and rogue state actors. The Budget proposes legislation to return the U.S. Secret Service to Treasury to create new efficiencies in the investigation of these crimes and prepare the Nation to face the threats of tomorrow.”
