ShapeShift CEO reveals aiding 60 law enforcement inquiries

Founder and CEO Erik Voorhees’ exchange Shapeshift has undergone significant changes, most recently by implementing KYC. Shapeshift reportedly had to comply with the regulatory environment. Furthermore, it was revealed, regarding transparency with law enforcement, in 2018, Shapeshift exchange aided 60 law enforcement requests.

In the United States, the requests from the government often take the form of subpoenas. A subpoena is a court-ordered request that essentially forces a person or entity to take an action. Many crypto companies reportedly received these late last year.

Shapeshift stated: “ShapeShift has always held financial transparency as a core principle, and for this reason, we felt the world should know that these types of law enforcement requests happen – almost continuously.”
