Russian official converts unused aluminum plant into Bitcoin mining farm

A Russian official decided to turn an aluminum plant into a Bitcoin mining facility. If Bitcoin trades at $9,160, the Russian company estimates profits of up to $99 million per month.

The Bitcoin mining firm is owned by an aide to the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, the aide, Dmitry Marinichev said “Now the plant for Rusal [Aluminum] is unprofitable, the electricity supplied to it is practically unused, and people living in the single-industry town near the plant have nowhere to work. Our idea is to redesign the plant and sell its computing power as a service, that is, provide an IT service.
