Nasdaq to add Bitcoin index to global data service

posted 6 months ago
Stock exchange operator Nasdaq is adding a Bitcoin index to its global data service later this month. It partnered with New Zealand-based blockchain data and research firm Brave New Coin to offer information on the new index.

The Bitcoin Liquid Index (BLX) will offer a “real-time spot or reference rate” for the price of 1 bitcoin (BTC), quoted in USD, and “based on the most liquid ends of their markets.” The data will be refreshed at a frequency of thirty seconds. “The BLX is one of the most widely-referenced BTC indices among crypto traders and has been calculated back to 2010.” the exchange operator added.
