Major US grocery store Kroger ditches Visa, discusses accepting Bitcoin

Days after announcing plans to ditch Visa due to “excessive fees” Kroger has reportedly discussed using Bitcoin’s Lightning Network for payments.

Kroger had stated on March 1st that 142 supermarkets and 108 fuel center locations would stop accepting Visa by April 3rd in order to maintain low prices for customers. Morgan Creek Digital’s Anthony Pompliano said he spoke with Kroger representatives about using Lightning.
