posted 2 months ago
Recently, Blockstream’s Liquid sidechain began holding more Bitcoins than the more well-known Layer 2 Lightning Network. The federated, permissioned Liquid sidechain tied to Bitcoin is said to help merchants quickly switch funds between exchanges. Thus far, the Liquid Network answer has involved many different trading platforms.

In early March, Liquid exceeded the Lightning Network in the amount of bitcoins in circulation. At the time of writing, Blockstream’s sidechain involved 953 BTC, and LN channels used 925 BTC. Notably, in January, the Liquid sidechain began supporting BTCPay Server processing service.
