Crypto exchange Bithumb hacked

Bithumb, one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges, said on March 29th, it was hacked. Analysts say the firm’s EOS wallet was hacked for 3 million EOS tokens worth $12.5 million. The accident prompted Bithumb to stop deposits and withdrawals on March 30th, citing a need to “provide more stable service.”

A Bithumb official said “About 10:15 p.m. on the 29th, we detected an abnormal withdrawal of the company’s cryptocurrency… As a result of the inspection, it is judged that the incident is an accident involving insiders… Based on the facts, we are conducting intensive investigations.” Bithumb said it is cooperating with a state-backed security agency.
