Chinese telecom giant preps for 5G era with plans to utilize blockchain

Chinese telecom giant China Unicom is preparing for the arrival of the 5G era. China Unicom (the world's 4th-largest mobile service provider by subscriber base) recently partnered with Wanxiang Blockchain to form the Blockchain Joint Innovation Center.

COO of cryptocurrency computing network PlatON, Xie Hongjun, was present at the official partnership signing event and said “When we talk about 5G… The security issue [within] the connections is one of the most compelling reasons to utilize blockchain because blockchain is designed as a basis for applications that involve in transaction and interaction. Thus, blockchain is the answer to IoT challenges.”
