BIP91 locked in by miners

posted about 1 month ago
Today BIP91 was locked in by Bitcoin miners, with overwhelming support of 85% of the hash power. This marks the beginning of the SegWit activation, enabling the usage of such technologies as Lightning Network which would allow micro-transactions on top of the Bitcoin network.

The controversy still remains though, since signaling by miners does not necessarily mean miners are running the actual software. "btc1" - one of the versions supporting BIP91 is said to be untested and potentially dangerous to the ecosystem.
